FICTION and Social Sciences
International Symposium - May 16 & 17, 2024 - MSH-SUD (espace Saint-Charles)

Through this colloquium, we hope to create a space for discussion - a "language community" - around fiction and its possible links with anthropology, and more generally with the social sciences. The theme is not new, since in 2014 a colloquium was already held at Université Paris 1 entitled "Fiction et sciences sociales. Bonnes et mauvaises fréquentations." It discussed the relationships of competition, collaboration and complementarity between fiction and the social sciences. The colloquium we are organizing will be an opportunity to extend these reflections, begun in 2014, and to go beyond them in order to consider certain more recent uses of fiction in the social sciences, notably through that of " fictional inquiry ".

The collective work Le sport, un objet social, which has just been published by Alliance Athéna, retraces the national structuring effort launched several years ago under the impetus of SHS learned societies in sport, of which the December 2022 congress was just one expression.
